My hubby left for a work trip on December 2nd. That day the bitter cold arrived in Montana and the snow began to fall. 8 inches total. The cold stayed for several days. Highs in the negatives. We broke three days in a row of record highs, two of them below on the local news channel..

Yes, that was a our highs for the day. Spent 9 days below freezing. One day Montana was the coldest place in the world, beating out Antarctica. Below was the temp here on December 6th. Brrrr...

As you can see above we were colder than all this area north of us..

When you factor in the wind chill on top of the actual temps outside during this cold spell, we were hitting -43 degrees and once we hit -50 and that made us the coldest place on the planet that day.

I've lived in Montana for almost 7 yrs and they said this kind of cold, and for so many days, hasn't happened in over 10 yrs. Every December we get a dip in the temps ever since we moved here but nothing this drastic. We usually hang in the single digits for highs and then drop in the negatives for the overnight lows.. This lasted nine days before we finally hit above freezing and the snow began to melt.

The snow was almost all gone before we got an inch of snow two days ago and now we are blanketed with white again. Just in time to pick up my hubby today from the airport after being gone 18 days to a warmer climate of Arizona. Hope he has a jacket..
