Weightloss Update 20 Pounds and Counting...

This past year I've added 15 pounds from the weight I lost back in 2012. Sneaking up one pound at a time not really noticing since my clothes size never changed until one day I put on a pair of my shorts and realized everything was much tighter than it should be. I knew I was at a turning point. Lose the weight or buy the next size up..

I refused to buy the next size up because I worked too hard to go back to the way I was so it was time to do some changes. I was ready.

Started journaling my food intake again. Bite by bite, I wrote it down and then started eliminating some of the foods that I knew I shouldn't be eating. At every meal I would eat slowly and enjoy each bite to where I ate less per sit down (meal) and my portion sizes got smaller and I was fuller quicker.

Exercising, I was pretty much doing the same since I never stopped running, walking and working out.

I started this on June 1st and as of today... August 31st, I am down 20.6 lbs. 5.6lbs more than I needed to lose to get down to my pre-weight gain weight.

The photo above right was taken back on the 26th. Today I am under 140 pounds which I have not been for MANY years. I'm thinking since before my boys were born.. In 1997 when I married my husband I weighed 130 lbs. When I got pregnant with my son in 1998 (DS16) I weighed 135 lbs. Long time ago for sure...

Photobucket
When I shed my weight back in 2011-12, I started at 174lbs which you can see my size from the photo abovewhich was taken Valentine's Day 2010..

I went down to 144 lbs with a total weight loss of 30 lbs. This year I gained to 159 lbs which you can see in my before picture on the left. I'm now 139.6 lbs which I am over the moon excited about.

From the get go, my goal has always to get myself down to 130 lbs so I am going to keep going and see how long it will take to lose 8 1/2 more pounds.. 1 pound at a time....

I just turned 41 on the 7th of August so I am working hard to get physically fit and down to a healthy weight because I'm not a Spring chicken anymore and it's important to be active and to be at a healthy weight as I age..

I'm excited about sharing some fitness challenges coming up in September to get myself moving in different directions and not to solely focus on running and walking but more on weight training since I'm so close to my weight loss goal I would like to look more into toning my muscles and to make sure my arms don't keep waving after I stopped if you know what I mean.. wink wink.....

If you are looking to get more physical and to work out more using weights and your body to help tone down... stay tuned... Would love for you to join me...

Back to Homeschool for 2015-16

My babies are getting so big.. They really aren't babies but they are to me.. We started homeschooling my daughter for Kindergarten back in the Fall of 1999 for one year until she went to live with her father. We then started officially homeschooling in the Fall of 2004 when my oldest son started Kindergarten.  For the past 11+ years that has been our life and we love it.

We started officially for the 2015-16 school year on Monday the 24th.

"End of Discussion" Book Review

They want to shut you up. But don’t let this be the End of Discussion. In this fresh and provocative new book, Mary Katharine Ham and Guy Benson, dynamic Fox News and Townhall Media duo, expose how the Left exploits fake outrage to silence their political opponents—in public, on social media, at work, and even in their own homes. You’ve felt it and “End of Discussion” can help you fight it.

The political correctness born on college campuses has mutated into a new hypersensitivity. It’s weaponized in Washington, D.C. by a network of well-trained operatives, media, and politicians, and proliferated throughout the country. The new Puritans of the Left are quick to ban comedians and commencement speakers alike for the sin of disagreeing with them. They demand “safe spaces” while making dissent increasingly dangerous for Americans.

Ham and Benson demonstrate just how dangerous the outrage industry—a coalition of mostly liberal blowhards and busybodies—is to America. The media frenzy they create is designed to disqualify opposing viewpoints on everything from health care to education by labeling them racist, sexist, and evil. They punish speech that makes them uncomfortable, demanding boycotts, censures, and people’s jobs. They seek to win political and cultural debates by preventing them from happening.

And if you think this behavior is relegated to political fights or politicians, think again. The same activists are ready to foment outrage over your association with the “wrong” fried chicken joints, Internet browsers, breast cancer charities, pasta, children’s toys, Halloween costumes, TV shows, schools, and even comedians’ jokes.

With Ham and Benson’s help, readers can cut through the noise and find their voices again, fighting back against the rampant self-censorship and hair-trigger apologies that always make things worse, not better. With fresh reporting and insightful, occasionally tongue-in-cheek analysis, End of Discussion is a timely handbook for anyone who wants to make sure debate doesn’t meet an ugly death during the 2016 election. Despite President Obama’s frequent declarations to the contrary, the time for debate is not over.

My Thoughts on This Book:

Today's society is all about being offended and keeping those that have different views quiet. The problem with this is, you can't silence the select few. In order to keep some quiet then we all must be silence. Which ends what we know of the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.

This is a book that everyone needs to read. Full of information that will hopefully get you thinking and then participating in keeping our rights to free speech before it's gone for good. We have Democrats and Republicans. Divided by the desire to keep the other quiet. This all is the case in everything we do from telling companies they have to serve certain people, squashing of people's religious freedoms so the ones that are opposite win, this battle isn't just under one topic but is spread into every facet of America and if we don't speak out against the silencing of our citizens then it will be too late...

The time is now..

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given.

Bible in 90 Days Begins September 1st

I am!

Starting Tuesday September 1st I will be reading the Bible in 90 Days.. Again... This will be my third time reading it cover to cover using this method. I've gotten so much out of reading it this way and since I haven't read the bible as much as I should lately this is the perfect way to dig into the Word daily for the next three months to build a habit of reading all about God.

I'm looking to start a mini group here in my home. I really feel the Lord calling me to help share this wonderful way of reading to other Mom's. If you are lead to read this Bible starting September 1st, please leave a comment below and I will help you along the journey as we read it together through Thanksgiving.

Start Date:
Tuesday September 1, 2015

End Date:
88 Days: November 27, 2015
90 Days: November 29, 2015

I am looking to post once a week here on my blog some things that I've gleaned from my reading and through my discussions each week here locally. I encourage those that would like to participate to leave comments each week so that I can help you along your journey...

Let's get reading!!!
