I am a little behind in posting my second week in my Run 2017 Miles in 2017 just like the first week. I want to post weekly on my miles, any milestones that have happened, weight loss updates if there is any and recipes that I have tried in that week... I need to be more diligent at getting these out right after the week is up!

My Thoughts on This Book:

After getting a copy of this book for review I realized it was book 2 in a series.. I decided to read it anyway even though I hadn't read the first one yet. I wasn't disappointed. The story filled in nicely what occurred in the first novel so I never felt lost or missing any major storyline plots. The first book if I can recall was focusing on AJ and his now fiancée Shelby..

This book focuses on Dani, an out of towner focused on finding revenge to a rich boy named Brett. After all he decided to slander her mother and call her a murderer in an interview. She decides to go pay him a visit and find some way to make him pay. Instead she got more than she could bargain for. A relationship with his cousin AJ and his fiancée Shelby, a job helping them and a relationship with Brett? Can that be?

Can she turn her anger into love? Will her secrets of why she came to town ruin any chance she may have for love, friendship and a place to belong?

Fantastic storyline that hooks you from page one. I couldn't put it down until the very last page. I see there is a book three coming out this year. Can't wait to pick it up as it will focus on Brett's sister, Amy who has a roll in this book..

Week 1: Run the Year 2017

Week 1 Run the Year 2017 in Review

I am a little behind in posting my first week in my Run 2017 Miles in 2017. I want to post weekly on my miles, any milestones that have happened, weight loss updates if there is any and recipes that I have tried in that week...

Let's start out with Day 1 Weight. I feel it's very important to take this large challenge on to see where you are on the first day. Since this is a YEAR LONG challenge I am looking forward to coming back to this post to see where I was on Day 1..

Since I started at 145 lbs back in October here I was on January 1, 2017.

1-1 1-4 Collage

I know I won't make the entire 2017 miles since this past year I only ran about 550 miles total. That would literally be 4 times the miles I've done this past year and I know that will put a toll on my body since it's not conditioned to run or even walk that much. I did start out pretty good in the first week. My ultimate goal was to do half and share the other half with two of my friends as we've signed up as a team for this challenge. Our name is "Women of Ass Destruction" because our goal is to use this fitness to tone down and get fit! Build muscle and destroy the fat!

Above here you can see my treadmill workouts I did for the first four days. On the treadmill I take a picture of each workout so I can journal my progress as the year goes on.

The second half of the week I did these workouts. The 5th I broke up my workout with a 2 mile run which you can see on the bottom right and then another 3.5 miles speed walking on incline to finish my 5.5 miles needed for the day. I took a rest on the 6th and then back at it to finish the week off with a 4 mile workout.

My goal outside of physically working out is to change our diet with different foods to eat for dinner. My desire is to change it up so we try new vegetables and textures that are healthy, whole, real, unprocessed and full of flavor...

This first week I made some Chicken Avocado Wraps which were a huge hit. So good that they are still asking for us to have it again..

I also made a delicious moist, organic pork dish with kale, spinach, feta cheese and grape tomatoes.

I then also made a delicious sweet potato and ham soup.. YUM!

I forgot to take pictures of the other meals that week but I'm working on remembering before I eat it so I can journal it on here each week..

My Thoughts on This Book:

I will have to be honest, this could of been an extraordinary book with the fact that we get to know these four black women that made history. I struggled to get past the writing style. Very hard to digest and flipped back and forth in time. I felt like one minute we were discussing Dorothy and a person came on scene and we literally "squirreled" the topic off to the new character and their life story up to the point of their meeting.. Then after that she tried to pick up where she left off with Dorothy and the meaning was totally lost on me.

I wanted so badly to get into this book because I absolutely love reading about American history and it was a chosen book for my monthly book club. I almost felt like the author was pouring out her frustration on the segregation that took place in the 40's and 50's by how she wrote about it and kept going back to the same time periods and re-hashing the same topics.

I had a tough time keeping track of the characters. There was a lot of people coming and going in this text. The book looked long with 360+ pages to it but the story itself was only 265. The rest of the pages were her footnotes. Yes.. 100 pages of her footnotes describing where she got all her information.

Full of history that could of been told more in the perspective of one of the main black women since they all knew each other. But because it went back and forth, and had a lot of scientific technical wording, I just struggled with it..

I look forward though to seeing the movie and hoping that it will help connect the true characters more to me and that I can truly get a sense on who they were and how they ultimately changed America for the better..

I am writing this review on my own free will. I received a copy of the book at the library for the purpose of reading it for my monthly book club. No compensation was given by anyone in order for me to write this review.

My Thoughts on This Book:

I was so happy that I read this book. The characters were well developed and I fell in love with all of them. I love reading any storyline placed in my home state of Montana. This was set in the Glacier National Park area near Kalispell. Following Kacey, a military helicopter pilot, home on leave sorting out her life. Her high school boyfriend, Ben, is also home from Nashville, as a singer for the group band Montgomery/King. Old flames reignite but will life be too complicated for them to make a go again? Will 'baggage' that Ben was not aware of be the deciding factor on whether he stays or goes?

Well written.. You will fall in love with these characters and pray the next book in this "Montana Rescue" series shows these characters again.. Love it!

New Year New Goals

Its 2017 already.. WOW! January 1st. I've been busy for the past couple months working on my weight loss goals (Sadly for the 2nd time this year) but I'm very motivated to get this weight forever under control and to make new goals for myself in 2017.

Over the past 2 1/2 months I've successfully shed 14 pounds and over 10 inches off my entire body. I'm not done yet though. I'd like to continue my weight loss until I reach 120 pounds. I have 13 pounds to go!

I'd like to share my photos of today which is my 'start' photo for 2017. This will be my before photo for my Run The Year 2017 Challenge that I've started which will take me until the end of this year to complete. I look forward to comparing this photo with the one I will take in December 2017.

I am taking this challenge seriously this year as I've stated in a post earlier this week. My goal is to complete at least half of the 2,017 miles and the other half will be shared with two of my friends as we've partnered up to take this challenge together.

I am now on my way to making goals along the way to help with this big one. Setting up races to keep me motivated and to keep me challenged. I am going to embark on my very first half marathon which will take place on May 21st of this year.. I now have a little over 16 weeks to prep my body and mind to conquer this goal.

We don't have a lot of races here in town that are more than a 5K. I will participate in those of course but want to maintain a challenge while training for my half. Here is the list of races I plan to participate in marking those that I've already signed up for!
