One Word 2016

Since 2011 I've decided to choose one word to represent each year and to take that word and apply it to my life.. These are the words I chose each year from 2011-2015.

2011 was a year to truly simplify my life. From over committing to being overwhelmed with clutter this was the year to find what was important and let go of everything that was not.

After spending an entire year simplifying it was important to find and keep 'Balance' in my life. This was the year to do that.

In 2013, I wanted to 'Renew' my faith. I focused this year on reading the Word and renewing my relationships with friends and family.

In 2014 I wanted to 'Focus' on what was important. Faith, Family and Friends.

This year I finish up with the word 'Strength'. This has meant a few things to me. Strength in my ability to accomplish what I desire, Strength in the physical sense to lose my weight and to stay as healthy as I can and strength in my Faith, finishing the year reading the Bible again in 90 Days..

This year I've chosen the word:

To be 'Intentional' in all aspects of my life including:

Homeschooling my boys
My Health
Keeping of My Home
My Hobbies

Do you pick one word to help you each year? I'd love to hear what you've chosen.. Leave a comment below...

Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook

Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook

What a great time to share my review on this truly awesome cookbook.. As we end 2015 and begin 2016 now is a good time to rethink the way we eat and to take control of our weight and health. A great way to start is by taking a peak at this cookbook full of delicious and healthy recipes for the entire family. No special ingredients necessary. You can find all these basic ingredients at your local grocery store. If you are following the Trim Healthy Mama diet or just want to add some tasty meals to your lifestyle this cookbook is for you.

One-Pot Meals
Hearty Mains and Sides
Sunrise Eats
Sweet Treats
All Things Smooth and Crunchy

The recipes are not categorized by Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Following the Trim Healthy Mama guidelines they don't believe in setting a certain food for a certain time of day. If you want dessert for breakfast they say, then do it! Balance is the key to this lifestyle..

Beautifully illustrated and full of recipes your entire family will love and ask for again. Includes easy to read instructions and list of ingredients. Also includes serving sizes but doesn't include health information which I was a bit disappointed in. Since this is a healthy cookbook I was hoping to see Calories, Fat etc info and it doesn't have that for the recipes. If you are looking to count calories then this cookbook may not be for you.

This cookbook includes hundreds of recipes that will help you slim down while eating well. This is a companion cookbook to their book "Trim Healthy Mama Plan" but could easily be used independently which is how I'm using it. I have not followed their healthy lifestyle plan but love their delicious recipes. Try it out today!

I have received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review of the book. No other compensation was given.

Every Girl Gets Confused by Janice Thompson

Every Girl Gets Confused
Brides With Style Series Book #2
by Janice Thompson

About This Book:

Its basketball playoff season as Katie and Brady try to mediate the rivalry between their obsessed basketball families.  The gossip at the bridal shop where Katie works is encroaching on their happy ending.  Katie’s parents are trying to talk her into coming back home to Fairfield to renew her relationship with her old boyfriend Carson.  Will her family stop meddling?  Will their families ever stop disagreeing enough to help their marriage take off?  Will she ever wear the wedding dress she has dreamed of?

My Thoughts on This Book:

I have had the opportunity to read both the first and second book in this series. I've loved reading Janice Thompson's books before this series so was looking forward to diving into this one. I have to be honest though, I struggled with this series.. I had a tough time relating to the characters and wanting to read more about them. This could very well be my personal preference on the style of writing and character background that I am looking to read and not necessarily this book.

This is a continuation of the first book with the same characters. Reading the first book in the series isn't really necessary but I'd recommend it so you can understand the characters a bit more. Otherwise you may get a bit lost in the background story that isn't addressed again in this book.

Characters Katie and Brady finally start dealing with real relationship problems and you see them struggle to make things work including her ex boyfriend returning to her life. The spunky characters actually weren't the main focus but the grandmother.. The plot was interesting and a bit entertaining but felt some of the chapters a bit over the top.

The focus of the novel is definitely the romance, but unfortunately this romance is not always with the two main characters; in fact, they disappointingly get less page time than some of the other minor characters. I honestly felt their development to be somewhat stalling, maybe get the rest of their story from the next book in the series. I'm always up for a great romance but this series seems to drag on a bit for my taste and would like to see more after reading two books in the series.
