October Unprocessed Challenge

I'm taking the challenge.. The October Unprocessed Challenge that is! What does this mean? It means ditching anything processed in your kitchen and eating unprocessed for the month of October starting this Tuesday..

Back in 2005, we started adding real foods into our diets. As the years have progressed more and more of our foods have been whole, real and mostly organic.

This past year I've really taken our eating habits seriously and we are 95% unprocessed. I now want to take this October Challenge to bring our family to 100%. I've been reading labels like a mad women everytime I buy groceries and have decided on buying fresh organic fruits and veggies and making most everything from scratch. I was making my own bread and through this challenge I will get myself back into doing that which I miss doing anyway so I'm looking forward to it.

What does this challenge mean to me?

Absolute awareness of EVERYTHING that goes into our mouth. From our water (I've just purchased a filtered waterbottle and will be getting a filtered pitcher for the refrigerator. Hubby has an under the sink filtration system to install, hopefully we will get that in by the 1st) to all foods that come into our home. I think this challenge will be what I need to set my habits to the top of my priority list so we can have optimum health and fitness. I know I'm already on my way to success with all the steps I've already taken over the years so having a month of really being aware will definitely be helpful.

I am also looking into adopting the use of essential oils but am just currently investigating and researching this to find out what we actually need for optimum immune health.

With this challenge I will continue to exercise a minimum of 5 days a week with three days of cardio and 2 days of weights.. Just eating unprocessed foods is just a step in overall health. Detoxing your life by drinking filtered water, exercising, and using non toxic body care products will help in so many ways..

I look forward to writing more about this topic, this challenge and about healthy eating/lifestyles.. This is my passion to help people and to draw attention to the things that are taking away from our health and shortening our lives..
