 Z is for Zoology

Apologia Zoology 1-3 that is!

For school this year I've chosen the Zoology books for my son's science. I didn't think he would be too interested but WOW, I was wrong. He loves them. I have him using the first two books this year and then working on the 3rd book for 2014-15.

This was the book above that he used for the 1st Semester. They are designed originally to be done in a year but have chosen for him to do it in half the time. We purchased the corresponding notebook which has a built in lesson planner where I took it and revised it to fit in 18 weeks versus 36.

This above is the book he's currently using until the end of this school year. We are also using the corresponding notebook with this one and love it. It has everything that pertains to the book inside. What that means is, all the activities discussed in the book is in the notebook so you don't have to go and make your own. Plus it includes, crossword puzzles, places for science experiments, copywork and a lapbook template for each lesson.

Land Animals of the Sixth Day: Exploring Creation with Zoology 3 - By: Jeannie K. Fulbright

Originally we were only going to work on the first two books before my son hit's middle school this Fall. But he told me how much he wanted to finish the series and didn't want to miss out on the final book. SO... I revised my goals for him and decided to do this book for the 1st Semester and the new Apologia Young Explorer's Chemistry and Physics book for the 2nd Semester.

I figured these two books will be a great start for his high school years, giving him a better understanding of animals, chemistry and physics. This will allow him to start on the General Science Apologia book in 8th grade which I feel will be a better fit for him and will keep him on track to graduating with all the needed science requirements for him to attend college

Is your family using Apologia in your homeschool? Would love to hear what you think of this series or of other books that are offered.. Thanks for stopping by!
